SSC (Shelby SC)

'Shelby Super Cars' (SSC), Tri-Cities, Washington, an American Sports Car company, founded in 1999 by Jerod Shelby.
 
2007: The 'Ultimate Aero' went into production.
2007, September 13: An SSC Ultimate Aero twin turbo, set a new world record for a production car of 256.18 mph on a "temporarily-closed two lane stretch of public highway [221] in Washington State." This beat the Koenigsegg 'CCR' at 242 mph, and Bugatti 'Veyron' at (unofficial) 253 mph. (In 2010 a Veyron 16.4 Super Sport achieved 431.07 km/h (267.9 mph).)
 
2011, November: The SSC 'Tuatara' was launched at the Dubai Motor Show:
loa 174.4", width 78.4", height 43.0", wheelbase 105", rear wheel drive, rear (mid) mounted engine, 423.6cu", twin turbo, V8, 1350 bhp @ 6800 rpm, 1042 ft-lb @ 6800 rpm,
claimed 276 mph, 0-60mph, 2.5 seconds.
 
2011 November: And, the company announced a new identity, SSC North America, to emphasise that it has no association with Carroll Shelby and his companies.
 
2018, August: SSC North America was in the final stages of releasing the 'Tuatara'.

2020, October 10: A Tuatara set a new record for 'Fastest Production Car' reaching a top speed of 331.15mph, and averaging 316.11mph (two-way) on a closed road near Las Vegas. — SSC.
Later: "... There [had been] a genuine mistake in how the capturing equipment was setup ... In 2021, the Tuatara reclaimed the world record for SSC, with an average of 282.9 MPH. ..." — SSC 23/7/2021.
