Leyland P76

1973: The Leyland P76 was an Australian car released in June 1973. Engine options were a 2.6-litre straight-6, or a 144kW 4.4-litre V8 derived from the 3.5-litre Rover V8 also used in the Range Rover.

The timing of the launch was unfortunate in coinciding with a major oil price shock. The P76 also gained a poor reputation for reliability and quality. An attractive coupe version, the Force 7, reached pre-production, but Leyland Australia's manufacturing operations closed down in 1974.

2013, June: Gerry Crown (81) and Matt Bryson entered a 1973 P76 in the 2013 Peking to Paris rally, and won it.
