- Ssangyong is a South Korean car maker.

- 1983: Geohwa Company's Korando short wheelbase 4x4 was
a basic "Jeep" type vehicle (also see 1996).
Geohwa eventually became part of Ssangyong.
- 1986: Ssangyong Business Group took over Dong-A Motor
and formed Ssangyong Motor.
- 1991: Ssangyong and
Mercedes
began a technology partnership.
Notably, Ssangyong came to use Mercedes engines.

- 1993: Ssangyong Musso,
a 5-door 4x4 (SUV) with "unusual" styling,
3.2-litre Mercedes V6, live rear axle, independent front suspension.
In Australia, it was sold through Mercedes dealers.
There was also a crew-cab ute version.

- 1996: Ssangyong Korando (new model, also see 1983)
short wheelbase 4x4 (SUV),
petrol 3.2-litre V6 or 2.3-litre 4-cyl., or 2.9-litre diesel.

- 1997: Daewoo took control of Ssangyong,
but sold it in 2000.

- 2004: The hideously ugly Rodius (Stavic) people mover,
3.2-litre (Merc) V6, or 2.7-litre 5-cyl. diesel.
The styling is in the ‘garden shed stuck on the back of car’
school.
- 2009:
Ssangyong was put into bankruptcy protection.
There were also prolonged strikes.
2010, June: Ssangyong made a
short-list of 6 potential buyers, hoping for ~$500million.
2011, February:
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd (.in)
completed the purchase of Ssangyong Motor Co..
- 2011:
The Korando SUV (no resemblance to the 1996 or 1983 Ks),
2-litre 4-cyl. diesel, 6-speed auto,
front-WD from au$26K+orc,
4x4 from au$30K+orc (11/2011).
- 2012 March:
Ssangyong introduced a revised Actyon crew cab ute to .au,
4x4 or 4x2, 2-litre turbo diesel (114kW),
from au$27K (Tradie 4x2), to au$39.8K (SPR 4x4).
- 2020 December 21:
Ssangyong Motors filed for bankruptcy.
2022 June:
KG Mobility took over Ssangyong Motor.
2023 March:
Ssangyong was rebranded as KGM Mobility (KGM).
